(MIDI HIDE MINES
The various difficulties that arose out
of the tale of the Muir mine up Grande
Ronde river were adjusted by the parties
in this city yesterday afternoon and the
purchasers Messrs Wards and Crabill are
arranging to immediately install their
large concentrating mill, which will.have a
daily capacity of thirty tons. This mil
would now be in operation had not the
mine been tied up in the courts. Orders
for 60.000 . feet of lumber have been
placed for the construction of buildings at
the mine.
This is one of the best developed mine.
in the Grande Ronde district although
there are others Just as Dromisimr. Two
car loads of ore were shipped last sum
mer for the purpose of securing a milling
test before the present purchasers order
ed their mill and the results were entirely
satisfactory. There are now 10.000 ton.
of rich ore on the dump that were taken
irom me auu root tunnel. The parties
who are practical miners know that there
la going to be a lively camp there this
spring and are now preparing to secure a
posiomce ana tne extension of the tele
phone system to the mine from Starkey.
The Aurelia mine has. made arrange
ments with this company to have a large
amount of their ore milled and , within a
few miles, in all there are at .present
four well known mines, the Pay Boy, Blue
BirdV Royal and Aurelia, all rich ore pro
ducers that will undoubtedly be worked

J. B. GlLHAM
County Clerk of Union county, Oregon!
Just as soon as this mill is ready to handle
their ore.
Arrangement are also under way to
have the wagon road which was built by
the Grande Ronde Lumber Company, up
the river extended about three miles more.
and when completed, will shorten the dis
tance to the mines from this city about 12
miles "and will cut out the famous BIy
hill.
The mining outlook up Grande Ronde
river never looked brighter than at this
time. There is more money and more
enthusiastic mining men at work up the
river than ever bepore, and with the ad
vent of a concentrating mill, there will be
a number of properties that are now well
known, and possibly many new ledges,
developed.
It will look good to our business men to
see a string of four horse teams hauling
supplies to this camp just as soon as the
roads are passible, and the payroll of this
carrtD will be an event that will be eaffar-
iy watched tor each month.
It is also expuctud that the difficulties
or me parson placer mine will soon be
settled, and filty or more men will be
piping and sluicing on that property very
oon.
It is a well known fact that almost all
mining camps are compelled to undergo
about so much legal complications before
they finally gstf into hands of th men
who later on place the properties into a
dividend paying class.

OLDEST PIONEER
A special from Grangeville, Idaho, to
the Lewis ton Tribune, says of the death
of an aged pioneer:
John Hughes, aged 1 16 years and who
was the oldest man on the Pacific coast.
died at 4 o'clock this afternoon at his
home here.
"Death was fast approaching." writes
Ralph F. Fernandez, of Tampa, Fla., de
scribing his fearful race with death, "as
a result of liver trouble and heart dis
ease, which had robbed me of sleep and
of allinterest in life. I had tried many dif
ferent doctors and several medicines, but
got no benefit, until I began to use Elec
tric Bitters. So wonderful was their ef
fect, that in-three days I felt like a new
man, aSid today I am cured of all my
troubles." Guaranteed at Nswlin's Drug

A Off p'fig Death.
Blood poison creeps up toward the
heart, causing death. J. E. Stearns,
Belle Plaine, Minn., writes that a friend
dreadfully injured his hand, which
swelled up like blood poisoning. Buck
len's Arnica Salve drew out the poison
healed the wound, and saved his life.
