WRECKER IS SENTENCED

man, ho was convicted of attempting to
wreck the Southern Pacific freight train
two miles east of Kern City on December

Folsom prison this morning.
SENTENCED TWO YEARS
Robert Blake, who was arrested in
Beta on the charge of forgery, having
r3SJ a check drawn on the Elgin bank
for $24, appeared before Judge Eakin this
afternoon and plead guilty and received a
sentence of two years in the penitentiary.

sold forged municipal bonds in various
parts of the country. He was heavily
involved with his customer for whom he
was carrying New York exchange ac

in disposing of them. Arrests are, ex
pected soon, and it seems clear that
there were a number involved In the

before Justice Hough and they waived

the charge and were fined each $60.
McDowell paid hie as we go to press
Newbill has not paid and is in jail.
FAST MAIL WRECKED

saloon keepers for seventeen thousand

The attention of the council was called

river to keep, the river from cutting away

mittee. After discussing the new orimarv law
for about an hour it was decided to meat
again next Wednesday night to hear the
legal opinion of the city attorney. The
idea seemed to be to let the candidate to
go on the ticket by petition, thu elimin
ating the expense and trouble of holding

register befare they can vote unless they
