ning through the play, relieving the sad
pert ions. Georgia Harpar has made a
most successful tour of the Pacific Coast
and Canada, presenting Camille, and the
comments of the press and public have
been most flattering. She enjoys the dis
tinction of having no superior in the pro
duction of this great play. She also has
a fad for fine costumes and has a host of
the most elegant gowns ever seen on the
American stage. The play is also
mounted in cjstly style, new special set
tings being used for each act, all in all

To say that the play went well is un
necessary for never did an actress hold

throughout Indiana look forward with in
terest to the receipt of a trowel that has
just started from the New York Masonic
Temple on a trip that will probably take
ten years to complete. With the trowel.
the symbol to cement the -brotherly love
among Masonic fraternity, is a large
register in which data are to be inscribed
by lodges, where the trowel is exhibited.
Every lodge of Masons in the United
Stales will receive the treasure. After
the lo.ig trip is ended the trowel and its
record will be placed in the grand lodge
of the state of New York.

ning the erection of a building in which

Mr. Brown for an interest in the paper
and they will begin publication the first

LOOGING IN PROGRESS
Reports from up the river are to the
effect that logging is well under way. The
logging road built up Rock Creek from
Hilgard, a distance of eight miles, is in
constant use and several acres ot ground
are covered with logs ready for the high
water in the spring. . Four miles below
the ''Sheep ranch" a large amount of logs
are being banked out from skid roads.

fifty engines in service on the 0. R. & N
between Portland and Umatilla may be
changed into oil burners soon anyway, as
an experiment.
However, there is no possibility "of the
engines used on the Blue mountains
being coverted into oil burners, is the
opinion of railroad men, on account of
the necessity of running with light fires
down the mountiins, which wsuld ba de
trimental to boilers w.tl oil burners.
The CDst of changing a coal burner is
about $1000. and it would require a year
to c iange the fifty engines on the Uma-tilla-Portiand
divisions,
RECEIVES BLOODED ANIMALS
C. R. Hibberd has just received three
mammoth jacks from Nebraska and Miss
ouri. One of these animals stands 1 1
hands high and weighs 1160 pounds.
Another we ghs 950 pounds and one
young one and four jennies. In the ship
ment is one Hambletonian road stallion
weighing 1200 pounds. Mr. Hibberd in
tends to place these animals on sale at
nis ranch two miles north of Imbler.

this city, will celebrate his 1 00th birth
day. Mr. Blair is perhaps the oldest man

COMMERCIAL CLUB WINS
The basket ball gam last night at the
Commercial Club between the High
School team and the Commercial Club
team resulted in a victory for the Com
mercial Club. The score stood 24 to 6.
The first half was more ven than the
second. When time wa called for the
first half the score stood 6 to S in favor
of the Commercial Club. The attendance
was good and those present pronounced it
one of the best games of the season.
BASKET BALL
Basket Ball enthusiasm has certainly
taken hold of the people as shown by the
way they enjoyed the game Wednesday
evening. The High School team though
plainly outclassed plr.yed a plucky losing
game. 1 hey say that it would have been
a different story if "Weary" Falk who for
some unaccountable reason did not show
up for the game. Had he been in, the
score Would probably have ocen much
nearer even, though the Club team would
undoubtedly have won for they seldom
missed a basket on an open throw.
The militia team has been strengthened
by several new player and they claim
they will retrieve themselves, for the loss
of their first game, next week (date not
yet determined) when they will meet the
Commercial Club team on their own floor.
