Los Angeles, Dec. 21. It is now con fidently believed that Walter Scott the cowboy miner who lately attracted such widespread attention through his lavish scattering of money and various spec tacular episodes, has been murdered in Death Valley. On December 1 he left hi home for Death Valley, riding a mule and carrying with him $1800 and two repeating rifle. According to a letter received by Rol King, Scott' manager in thi city, from Scott' brotherWilliam, at Bennet Well, ' the miner' mule galloped riderless into camp there on December 7 with the saddle pierced by a bullet and the .blanket and saddle covered with' blood. . ' Today King telegraphed $1000 're ward to Barstow ard Bull Frog for the recovery of Scott' body. King 1 satis fied that Scott has' been murdered for his money somewhere on the desert. Already a thorough search for the miner has been instituted in Death Val ley and throughout the Funeral mount ains. Scott's brother accompanied by Shank Merricks. a well known desert scout, went back on the trail of the miner's mule for 50 mile after it came into camp, but a terrific sand storm fi nally obliterated all trace - and their water supply having become exhausted the men were compelled to return to camp. Later they started out again and the search is being continued. ; " REAL ESTATE TRANSFERS t ' ..in' THE PAST WEEK R The following real estate transactions of note have been filed with County Re corder D.
