AMUSEMENTS
THE OHOSTS
. "Ghosts" as played by Harry Mestay
r and company; is a ' thought" provok
ing drama, and one that appeals to its
audience in a more serious frame of mind
than is usual But the play is an unusual
one. While we have had Ibsen's drama
presented to us, it is the first time that it
has been done by this talented ' young
artist who seems to have been born for
the part. Ibsen's drama is not merely a
story of a brilliant young artist destruc
tion through heredity of the- afflictions or
a mother's vain sacrifice. It is mora,
behind the tragedy of Oswald Alving is
the tragedy of Oswald's father, the joy
loving counterpart of Oswald, who was
doomed to the dull routine of society in a
small town. ' The undertone of Ibsen's
-Ghosts" is the suppression of nature and
truth under the load of dogmas and old
saws generally, the believing in one life
and living another. A great many people
will leave the theatre saying that"Ghosts"
is horrible yes. it is even immoral; but
at the same t me it gives us the truth,
and truth is sometimes horrible, but in
this Janus headed world of ours, Ib
sen's story is the clarion call of the twen
tieth century. Tear off the mask. "Ghosts"
will be presented, under the management

a unique entertainment
A remarkable program is furnished by
these diminutive, but talented little ladies
the Misses Adams, consisting of recital,
song, cantata and tableaux. The num
bers are so varied in character and so
artistically presented that there is not a
dull moment from the beginingto the end.
Tbe children are delighted; everybody is
instructed and amused.
Aside from the literary and artistic
merit of the entertainment, the modest
and charming personality of the Adams
Sisters makes them favorites wherever
they go. The two little ladies, only 46
and 49 inches in height respectively, about
the size of the average boy and girl of
four or five years of age but endowed by
all the grace that comes with mature
years and with the culture that is acquired
by training, is in itself a sight worth the
price of admission.
eagles will fly tonioht.
The McEwen entertainment this even.
ing will be held under the auspices of the
Eagles of this city and) they will furnish
no little part of the entertainment A
committee of leading Eagles will be upon
te stage and will become subjects of the
Great McEwen. Last night's entertain
ment was up to the usual high standard
of Mr. McEwen's entertainments and the
audience was the largest of the week.
Only a few chosen seats remain unsold
for tonight ' Come and ' have a hearty
laugh and see the wonders of the great
McEwen. '
