W.-.C "T. U. Resolutions
.The following resolutions, which were
recommended to the local unions by the
National W. C. T. U. Convention, recently
assemoiea in oeuiornm, were aiiuiiwtu uy
the union of La Grande in its last session.
It is hoped every serious minded person
under whose notice this comes, will act
upon it or at least give it a thoughtful
consideration. The reading matter
brought into a family is a most potent
factor in its education. Shall it be for
good or for evil? Its influence is for eter
nity. Decide for yourselves.
Whereae, Many of the magazines and
newspapers of the day carry advertise
ments of alcoholic liquors and also other
advertisements and pictures which should
not be allowed to enter the home; there
fore, ,'.'.'
Resolved, that we try to choose for our
homes, as far as possible, the newspapers
and magazines that exclude such adver
tisements; that we will, however, in a
spirit of frankness and kindness, ask pub
lishers and editors to cease to include in
their publication objectionable advertise
ments; moreover, we still remonstrate
against such advertisements and pictures
being posted in public places; believing
them to be demoralizing; and we consider
that it is the duty of town and municipal
authorities to prevent such displays on
billboards or in other public places.
Why Women Advocate
Osteopathy
The upright position of mankind is re
sponsible for three classes of ills from
which the brute creation does not softer.
Rupture, piles and diseases peculiar to
women. The two. latter classes of dis
ease are usually collectable by osteop
athic methods. Indeed,. . women'e iiis
find more relief from this , system of
treatment nowadays than any other.
Displacements, leucorirhea, inflammations,
irregularis,, pain tjiese ant the .wrongs
that Osteopathy sets aright in a majority
of cases. No wonder that women are
the staunch supporters of.Oeteopathy! ''
