to the proprietor of a livery atable for

When asked why ahe stole the hors
es and outfit she replied : "My father
has been larming some Indian land
on tbe reservation for two or three
years and has made me go out into the
field to plow and do other kinds of
work, and would never give me any
money. I came down to Walla Walla
to atay with him this fall after harvest
and wanted him to give me money
enough to go and visit my mother at
North Yakima, but be would not do
it, so 1 rode back up to tbe reservation
on horseback, and, after staying with
friends a short time boncluded that I
would laise rome money, and that is
why I took tbe horses and outfit."

S J Dorrance Sells
Monday, Sam J ' -Dorrance, of
Prairie Creek, sold his ranoh to the
Barton Bros, consideration $1,825.
This is an exceptionally fine tancb
and carries 150 inches in tbe Mount
ain Sheep ditch, which will be com
pleted early next spring. This year's
crop averxged 25 bushels of rye to the
acre and 30 bushels of wheat. Two
years ago Sam bought this ranoh for
3,000, and during the two years It
haalnc-essed (1,825 in value. Tbe Bar
ton Bros, are to be congratulated
upon securing a valuable ranch !at
