Will tell you that the success of a prescription de
pends on the parity, of its ingredience. There is
as much variety in medicine as in other merchan
dise. In our prescription-filling Qamy" is always
our first consideration. v . ,
You can implicity trust your prescription to as
quality, accuracy and the right priceare the never
failing trio upon which we think ws' have a right to
appeal for your patronage.

BEAR FIGHTS
.The, admirers of President
Roosevelt, , which means every
body, are being pleased and en
tertained with reading-his ex
ploits as e beer fighter in the
wildes of Colorado, surrounded
with a crowd of vigorous young
men heavily armed and a score
of dogs. ' But if they can strike
the Bey. .Abr&ham Eads of this
city,, when ; in a - reminescent
mood, for a short lime, out of
his favorite riotn ' amonv Orok
Verbs Geological Strata, Astro
nomical Cycleaand the Origi
nal language of the New Testa
ment, he can tell of bear1 fights
that occurred in. Old Yamhill
County, Oregon some sixty
years ago that will make the
boldest feats of ; the. .president
look tame as the diacription of a
sham battle compared ' with a
real one.
The Rev. Eads and his father
hunted bears, not 'for; pastimes,
but for food for the family, and
the hides for clothing, and to
protect their - cows, colts, and
pigs from bruin's voracious ap
petites. To save ammunition
which was scarce in those days.
After the dogs had brought ' the
bear to bay the' hunting knife
made from an old file with a
buck horn handle was used and
no bear ever escaped the hand
to claw fight.
OUR SCHOOL LAND
The United States granted to
the Slate of Oregon . one eigh
teenth of the entire land sur
face of the State amounting to
3,302,133 acres, which the State
was to dispose of and place the
proceeds in an irreducable fund
the nterest to be used in sup
port of common schools. Every
citizen of the State should , take
a deep interest in the manage
ment of this immense aggregate
of land property. .
It is a melancholly tact that
in the past land grabbers have
taken.' much ' more interest in
Bbaping the laws for the sale of
our school lands aud the prac
tices there under than the com
mon citizens with the result
that our irreducable school fund
is not more than one quarter as
large as it should he.
