Famous Race Track
Baltimore April 13 This is the date
set by the court for the sale at public
auction ot the famous Pimlioo race
track, and unless the Maryland Jockey
Club aueoeds in saving the property
by bidding it ic, the land will probab
ly be out up into building lots. This
will not interfere, however, with lbs
approaching spring meeting of the
jockey club.
The sale of Pimlioo marks the past
ing of one of the oiost famous race
courses in the east. Pimlico's memor
able contest was the great race during
the fall meeting of 1877, in whioh
Pierre Lorillard'a celebrated horse Pa
role was the winner. The race was a
2-mile and a half three-cornered event
mm rarote, ien rtroeck, and Ochil
tree as contestants. To witness the
race ia which such celebrated entries
were scheduled, people from all over
the United 8tttes Backed to Baltimore
and so great was the interest in the af
fair that congress adj turned to allow
its members to attend.

tence. When tbe case was called, the
prisoner was asked to stand up by tbe
court. He looked pale and worn, and
bad to be lifted to bis feet by tbe sber
rif. Tbe defendant's attorney filed

tion for a new trial.
