Miss Mollis Hendershott is in the

The regular danoing party was
given by the Commercial Club at
their hall last evening, Miss Beiver
and Mr Earl Kiniey being awarded
the prizes in the prise waltz.
Lillian Chapman, one of the in
mates of the Bed Light district in this
city, died at 3 o'olook this , morning
after suffering several weeks with a
severe case of pneumonia. She wss
aged 24 years and bad been in that
life but four year. Gifflo A Hogan
are the undertakers. The fuoeral
arrangements ere not yet perfected.
"The Union delegation returned from

cessful in dividing the county there is
no doubt but that they did clever
work in the face of the dirtiest kind
of opposition. Had they not been be
trayed by . their friends, we would
soon be writing it Clark county. . s As

Pine Destroyed By Fire
The town of Pine was destroyed by
fire on Tuesday of this week and the
business portion of tbe town wiped
out. Pine was formerly located in
Union oounty, but during one of
those "reputable" seeeions of tbe
legislature, for which Oregon has ' be
come lastly famous and which took
place in 1901 the town was "noted over
Into Baker oounty where it has since
remained. The telephone omce was
destroyed and only meagre: reports
