For the month of November
1904 there arrived in the U 8
71150 immigrations of whom
46,742 were males aid 24,408
females. For the eleven months
ending with November 1904
there were 745,287 immigrants
reached the United States of
whom 476,100 were males and
250,187 females. For the cor
responding period in 1904 the
arrivals of homeseekers were
688,100 males and 201,932 fe
males total 395,148.
The first official couut of im
migrants we have is for the year
ending June 80, 1820 in whioh
8,385 arrived . Forty years after
in 1860 there came to the U S
310,004, followed by a falling off
and there were but 150,237 re
ported in 1860, since which
the tide has grown to present
proportions of 2,871 per day.

has been felt among the native
population, lest the great inflow
of foreigners would prove detri
mental, if not disastrous to the

$26,000 for the Lewis and Clark
fair. The money has- already
been invested. Now the ques
tion is are we as an individual
county contented to let it go as
a total loss, or are we to make
an effort to realize upon tbe
money so invested. How we
can do this without an exhibit
euoh as Union county is capable
of making, we do not believe it
