This morning shortly before five
o'clock the wild alarm of. fire pealed
oat from the bell in the city tower,

When the bell first rang, people tamed'

sistent tones of the alarm bell caused a
large number to go to the scene. The
fire company with their usual quick
response to calls of this kind were on
the scene in a short time, and their
quick and . effective work saved the
buildings In close proximity to the
one which burned.
; The building which burned was the
saloon known as "The Whamrock," sit
uated on the corner ct Adams Avenue
and Fir streets. The building was
owned by W B Hamilton, and the
stock was owned by Mr. Cum.
