New fork, Deo. 14. Wall street b-
gan the day today with more anxiety
than shown since tbe May panlo of
1893. The maiket opened weak and
excited with prices generally lower.
Many wild rumors were afloat and
brokers generally sent oat imperative
calls to customers tor more margins.
In the pit tne greatest excitement
was around the Amalgamated Copper
and Steel trading posts. After the de
moralization of the first half hoar sab-
sided powerfal support became mani
feflt and there were spasmodic rallies
all through the list. Copper carried
three points oyer last night. Southern
Pacific and Colorado Fuel one point,
and fractional gains were established
In other leading stooks, ' The trading
was eitremely fererlsh in the rally,
bat the market settled down into a
quieter tone than before at 11 o'clock.
The fiord of selling orders caused
values to tamble all along tbe - line.
Sugar, Faciflo Mall, Steel common,
Pennsylvania; and Union iPaoiflo de
clined one half to two percent. - Amal
gamated proved the strongest stock In
tbe list opening from an eighth to a
point higher. This proved the Influen
cing factor, nd caused stocks to rally
and early losses were regained. Tbe
opinion prevail that the stampede
caused by Lawson's advertisements is
over.

We Arc Growing
There is nothing that speaks the
continued growth of a city as tbe
new additions that are constantly be

Daring the past year there have
been Mveral additions entirely sold

two more have been plotted and lot
