City, One of : the eMi r sj principal cases will be the i attempt to recover on the bonds men ;of ex-sheriff Hiinliugton who was, short in his accounts. over 1902. The republican inxjoiily slightly exceeded 24,000 or nearly 24 per cent of the , entire vote cast. This is an immense majority. ', Our readers will remember bow the fact that Governor Herrick had carried Ohio in 1903 by a prurality of 113,812 in a totaj vote of 886,376 was heralded all over the nation. ' Had Ohio gone republican as strongly last year as did Oregon this year Governor Herrick's majority would bave been over 200,000.- Every indication now points to the : conclusion that president Roosevelt will carry Oregon this fall by at least 30,000. On theae occasions many meet for the first time since their; last reunion. It is one of the most pleasant annual gatherings : held in the county, largely from the fact that a very large per cent of the early pion eers who first settled and made homes in .this beautiful valley are here yet, very few ever had occasion' to seek elsewhere for comforts and conditions that were not provided by nature here. And how will they have converted this entire valley into pretty comfortable homes is a studding monument to their sacrifices, sagacity and energy. They had the choice of the entire PaciHo coast and it only required time to prove this wise selection, made in the early sixties. La Qrande extends them a hearty welcome on this occa sion.
