At the election held in June, 1902, there were cast for Judge Bean, the republican candi date for Supreme Judge, 1430 votes; for Judge Bonham, his democratic competitor, 1328, giving Bean a majority of 102 votes. Ndlwithstutading that there were more republican tnan democratic) votes, by, more than a hundred in Union coun ty in Jane, 1902, the democrats made practically a clean swtep of the . county ticket. It re mains to be seen whether the same thing . will happen next June. Baker, Union and Wallowa counties compose a judicial dis trict and will elect, next June, a district attorney, an ofllice worth $4,000 a year, with two deputies with salaries at $500 a year. Taking the vote on Su preme Judgs iu 1902 as a basis, the three counties are republi can. The vote in the three counties were: republicon 4,898; democratic 3762, showing 346 more republican than demo crats id the three counties. A good ticket and a united party will insure success in Un ion county next June but un less these are secured ' the pay ing local offices will go as usual to tho demcorats.
