' ' . Thut, fiunncially, this county is in a good shape, iiolc contend. The issue, the paramount issue, which our people ought to con sider is how to be'tcr present conditions. It costs too much money to carry on the details of county busin bp; the work which ia necessiry to run the county ought not to cost the lax payers $53,000 per annum. It can be done, and just as efficient ly done for much lesj money; but not under existing laws. iTOIIG THE CHURCHES . To accomplish this the p ople of Union county should send men to the legislature with the will and ability to secure legislation that will give a more economic al way of doing county business without impairing - the "couuty service. . . Such legislation is of vastly more importance to the people of this county than what par ticular man goes to the United State Senate or Congress, or who holds the federal offices in Oregon. "" With a county indebtedness of about $200,000, taxes higher than in many of the other counties, it looks as though it is about time the people '. of this county quit dividing on issues that are raised in the iuterest of ambitions men, who reside iu Western Oregon, and consider their own interests and cease to be pawns on the politic, al cb&os. board to be swapped off as the interest of aspiring men amy dictate. m m Announcements of Ser- vices Sunday at Different Places of Worship. . v4 M.
