Silverton’s Maggie Roth, Cascade’s Halle Wright and Salem Academy’s Sydney Brown finished their high school careers strong this season, and they are the finalists for the Mid-Valley girls bas- ketball player of the year award. Roth helped the Silverton girls bas- ketball team win the Mid-Willamette Conference and place third at the OSAA Class 5A state tournament. Wright helped Cascade win the Ore- gon West Conference, reach the OSAA Class 4A state championship game and place second in the tournament. Brown helped Salem Academy win the PacWest Conference, reach the OSAA Class 3A state title game and place second in the tournament. The winner will be awarded at the Statesman Journal Mid-Valley Sports Awards, presented by Donofrio Dealer- ships, set for June 4 at the Salem Con- vention Center.
