OBITUARY
Randolph Joseph Traeger
Oct. 10, 1957 — Oct. 30, 2017
Randy Traeger, 60, of Mt. Angel
passed away on Monday, Oct. 30, 2017.
Services were held at St.
Mary’s Catholic Church
of Mt. Angel on Nov. 3,
2017.
The Lord called Randy
home and he is now walk-
ing in Heaven in the pres-
ence of Jesus and his be-
Randolph
loved sister Kimmy.
Traeger
Randy was an entre-
SUBMITTED
preneur, coach, mentor,
author, artist, inspirational speaker, and
loving husband and father. He became
known as “Coach” to many. He coached
high school football for 38 years and en-
tered the lives of thousands of young
men that would seek his guidance. His
amazing characteristics of art and hu-
mor were commonly the base for con-
versation that typically turns philosoph-
ical and sometimes mythical. His eclec-
tic nature kept people guessing and al-
ways listening. He was the Mayor of Mt.
Angel, volunteer fire fighter, parish
council and a well-respected business-
man as executive vice-president of
Traeger Grills. He always put others
first and used his many gifts to help any-
one in need. The culmination of his life’s
passion is represented in his non-profit
organization Virtue First Foundation.
His goal was to promote virtue to re-
build the character of America’s youth.
Christ was there at his side through all
of his life’s struggles and gave him the
strength to persevere.
Randy is the eldest son of Joe and
Kathy Traeger’s nine children. He is
survived by his wife, Lynnette Traeger;
children Richard Louie, Rylan and Hil-
da Traeger, Tyson and Karen Traeger,
Simon Traeger, Krystal and Ryan Bern-
ing, Nicolle and Justin DeHerrera, and
Derek Traeger; 12 grandchildren; and
siblings Mark Traeger, Debbie Fessler,
Laura Traeger, Terese Webb, Greg
Traeger, Julie Ott and Brian Traeger. He
was preceded in death by his sister,
Kimberlee Traeger.
Contributions in memory of Randy
may be made to Virtue First or Peruvian
Partners.
Arrangements by Unger Funeral
Chapel of Mt. Angel.
