Dressing up to go downtown
I
t would be difficult to imagine nicer seasonal weather than that
which greeted visitors to downtown Stayton on Halloween.
And there were a lot of visitors.
The shopkeeps along Third Avenue opened their doors to
trick-or-treaters from 4 to 6 p.m., and residents came out in force.
Kids, and in some cases entire families, dressed up to spend some time
downtown.
Candy was the normal fare, but there were also opportunities for
free books, courtesy of the Friends of the Stayton Library Bookstore,
which offered a social-media observation of the evening:
“So many cute kids ............................................................. and parents too!”
