Freshman Grace Schaecher relieved Ried- man to open the fifth in- ning and struck out the side. Because Gaston (13-9) was down by at least 10 runs after batting in the fifth, the 10-run rule was invoked. The Trojans have the nucleus of last year’s team intact that lost to Pi- lot Rock in the state semi- finals. “It really boosts your confidence,” Riedman said. “We have a lot of ex- perience on our team and I think the depth will real- ly help us in the long run.” In addition to Prancer’s three-hit game, Riedman, junior first baseman Mol- ly Jaeger and junior catcher Abby Frey had two hits apiece. Jaeger scored four runs.
