mountain biker, they re-
portedly refused to allow
him to pass or leave the
trail.

Trails, condemned the ac-
tion and emphasized that
no one from the group was
involved.

Jack Garland Wallin
was born Feb. 22, 1931, in
Virginia to Thomas and
Ola Wallin. He was
raised in Chilhowie, Vir-
ginia, and following high
school graduation he
served in the United
States Army for two
years. Following this, he
traveled the west coast
and chose Oregon as his
home.
Jack is preceded in
death by his parents; his
brothers, Talmadge Wal-
lin and John Bernard
Wallin; and a sister, Ruth
Mercedes Robbins.
He leaves behind his
brother, Norman Wallin;
sisters, Esther and Do-
ris; and a special niece,
Shari in Tennessee who
kept in touch with him
often. A special thanks
and appreciation to his
family away from home;
Bernie and Margaret
Dettwyler and their fam-
ily as they always were
kind and generous with
their friendship and care
of Jack over the years.
Jack’s family would
like to further thank the
caregivers who took
care of Jack over the
past year; it gives the
family enormous peace
to know he was touched
by your caring and atten-
tion.

66, of Salem, went to be
with Jesus on May 1
while surrounded by
family and loved ones.
She was born in Cardin,
Oklahoma, on August 17,
1949 to Goldie and Noel
Boyd. She moved to Sil-
verton where she resid-
ed for over 30 years. This
is where she met and
married Henry Sheridan
in 1975.
Charlotte is survived
by her children April and
Hank, five grandchil-
dren and three great-
grandchildren. She is
also survived by three
sisters; Lorene, Bonnie
and Karen, along with
numerous nephews and
nieces. She is preceded
in death by her mother,
father, brothers Billy,
Don and Dale, and sister
Roberta.
Funeral
services
were provided by Unger
Funeral Chapel in Silver-
ton. A funeral service
was held May 7 at Four-
square Church in Silver-
ton, followed by grave-
side service at Valley
View Cemetery in Silver-
ton.

was some frustration
about a bike-only trail at
Silver Falls and the speed
with which it was created.
“The bike trail appears
to have been fast-
tracked,” she said. “It was
originally designated to
be a horse trail. So while
there’s a little frustration,
we want to work together
with all the user groups.”
