Sports B1 Appeal Tribune, www.silvertonappeal.com Wednesday, May 4, 2016 LOCAL DAHL-STAR Silverton's Perry Davis (21) provides a lead block for Noah Dahl against Crescent Valley. Dahl was one of six local athletes picked to play in the Les Schwab Bowl. Silverton’s Noah Dahl selected for Les Schwab Bowl MATT RAWLINGS “We feel really proud about the things we have accomplished here at Silverton, and Noah has played a huge role in the success of the program in the last four years,” Silverton coach John Man- nion said. And now, Dahl gets to cap of his high school ca- reer in the best way possible for a player in Ore- gon. Dahl was one of six local athletes selected to play in the Les Schwab Bowl for high school all stars. He is the only local player from the 5A level to be selected for the game. “He has gotten better every year he has been here and has been a part of a lot of big wins,” Man- nion said. “Noah is very deserving of this selec- tion and I think it will be a great experience for him.” SPECIAL TO THE STATESMAN JOURNAL Noah Dahl had an outstanding career as a Sil- verton High football player, and even though he is listed as a running back, there isn’t much on the football field he can’t do. He is a great receiver, catching balls both out of the backfield and out of the slot. As a junior in 2014, Dahl helped lead the Foxes to a 5A state championship appearance, and racked up first-team all-state honors for his play both as a defensive back and as a kicker. Dahl capped off his stellar senior season by earning Mid-Willamette Conference first-team all-conference honors at running back and sec- ond-team all-state. The game takes place at 5 p.m. June 25 at Hills- boro Stadium. “I am just incredibly honored and grateful to be put in this position,” Dahl said. “We have a great coaching staff here at Silverton who have helped me become a better player and person and I just feel like I owe a lot to them and the commu- nity for supporting me and this team through the years.” Dahl was able to show everything he is capable of on the football field in the second game of the season against Marist. He scored three rushing touchdowns and had one receiving touchdown, which was followed up by a fumble return for a touchdown, giving him five touchdowns on the See LES SCHWAB, Page 3B BRENT DRINKUT/STATESMAN JOURNAL SHELDON TRAVER/SPECIAL TO THE STATESMAN JOURNAL Dahl carries the ball during practice.
