WEDNESDAY, MARCH 23, 2016 APPEAL TRIBUNE ● 3A Choir Continued from Page 1A ent acts, and the event in- cluded an intermission featuring desserts made by the high school’s culi- nary class. “It was a really fun night,” said senior Ricki Milner. “There were girls I’d never heard sing solo before and that was fan- tastic.” She said many of the students work all year to perfect their perfor- mances for this show. In addition to being a way to display students’ musical talents, the Caba- ret was also a fundraiser for the family of Matt Al- brecht, a Silverton High School junior killed in a car crash on March 4. Mil- ner said many attendees donated money above the admission cost to help the family, and one group sang a song in his memo- ry. Kercher is just finish- ing her fourth year as the choir director and has seen many of her students grow artistically between their freshman and senior years. “These kids have real- ly taken ownership of the program,” she said. “They have pride in what they do.” In April, SHS Choir will compete for a spot at the Oregon School Activ- ities Association’s state choir championships. The choir took fourth place in the 5A competition in 2015. PHOTOS COURTESY OF ISAIAH PEREZ Silverton High School choir students perform in the fourth annual Cabaret on March 16.
