    GRAND JURY RrPORT
The Grand Jury for the Octo
ber term of court, after a session
extending over a period of about
two weeks, brought in the fol
lowing report Wednesday even
ing: October 18, 1911.
We. The Grand Jury of the
County of Columbia, in regular
session in the October term of
Court, 1911, make the follow
ing report:
We have investigated thirteen
criminal cases and have returned
five true bills and one not a true
bill.
We have examined the various
county offices and find them well
kept. We make the following
recommendations: that the coun
ty purchase a new safe for the
sheriff's office and a new safe
for the treasurer's office as the
old ones are too small.
We also recommend that the
vault between the assessor's
office and the sheriff's office be
divided into two rooms, and a
door cut in from the sheriff's
office and one from the assessor's
office.
Having finished the work be
fore us we ask to be dis

The case of Fred Adams versus the
Astoria and Columbia Kiver Railroad
was taken up by Circuit Judge Kakin
iast Friday morning, but never got as

ending. This cane was on an spiwnl
fn in the Justice Court, when Adnum
got a decision fur damages in the mini
I of I' A) on account of an animal killed by
the train. It seems that at the time of
the killing the road had already changed
hands and the suit idiould have been
hi ought against the Hpokane, Portland
and Seattle R. K., instead of the A. &
C. Thi! jury wai chosen, and some
te-timony taken, but the case was dis
missed on account of the mistake. An
other suit will be brongh in the near
