1911 OREGON BLUE BOOK
The 1911 Oregon Blue Rook is
beinsr circulated and a copy of it
has reached the Mist otlice. This
book contains more valuable in
formation about the State of Ore
gon than anything its size that
has ever been issued.
The first few panes read like a
pamphlet sent out by some live
commercial club, and Rive a com
prehensive statement of the re
sources of the State and the op
portunities here for the home
seeker and investor. Then there
is a copy of The Constitution, a
directory of the State officials,
including Commissions, etc.,
and a directory of all the county
officials in the State. The 1910
Census of Oregon is given in de
tail. The book is illustrated with
a large number of views from
different sections..
a iie eumon is limited and re
quests for the book will Jbe filled
in the order received. Anyone
m this county desiring one should
write to Ben VV. Olcott, Secretary
of State, Salem, at once, as there
is no doubt but the demand will
far exceed thesupply.

Mr. W. H. Smith, the fire warden for

trip overing nearly all of the territory
over which he has supervision, and has
sent us the following impressions which
he has gameil y traveling through the
best country in the state:
I was impressed by the general ad

especially wheat and oats. There are
some very fine field of winter wheat
along the river front, mostly cut and in

lietter buildings seem to be the order
of the day. Judaon Weed, of Vernonla
is putting up a building that would be
credit to any ordinary village, and I also
observed many others that belong to
parties whose names I do not know.
The clearing of land seems to have taken
a new start, also the bettering of the
quality of the stock kept by the farmers.
hverybody seems to be happy and
contented down about Clatskaule, on
the tide flats. Ihe diking and ditching
of this land has proceeded at a great rate
and at some places It has been plowed
and gardens planted, mostly of winter
vegetables. It is my opinion that they
look very good for the first crops on raw
sod land.
