of the Captain's loiiipany. lie is an
Id timer in the meichaiit trade, and
tys a host ol interesting and instructive
talcs ami personal experiences, lii lore
coining to this port ou this trip he made
what he believes to l4 a record breaking
run for a wind j inimer. It was as follows:
The total distance traveled is ap
proximately 21,(00 inil.s and the time
taken just exactly HfVcn months.
Captian Kilumo lias been on the Fos
ter ever 15 years, but this is his first trip
to St. Helens In here, though he was
here some 17 years ago in another boat,
and loaded peeled piling in the slough.
He made a number of acquaintances
nd friends, and spent most of his time
in thecompany of Dr. Clin". While he
was here Senate Hoar made a speech at
tliis place, and the doctor and Captain
Kiluian entertained hi in on the ship.
Dr. Clilf took hiiu out behind his fast
team of trotters and the Captain says
that traveling with him over tiie ro.ida
of that time was worse than being ou
his ship in the worst gale that he has
met in bis years of deep water travel.
Mrs. Kiluian was here with her two
laughters, and made a trip to Portland.
The Capatiu and his wife Cll lacotn
their home uort. though Ins o.isiness
causes him to be swav the major pail of
theliuie. It is proUble that the Fos

next cargo, and lhay may load at this
port, as a nuinU'r of the !oats are get
