old braves nnd their partners were

old time dances and tunes were the

CHURCH CHIMES
All is buzzing in the Sunday- school.
Not a small part of the interest is due to
the prospective Christmascntertninment.
The children and young people aie busy
prneticingsongs and recitations. Frieuils
of the tchool have been very liberal in
contributing funds. This, together with
an especially fine program, will doubtless
insure one of the best Christmas 'enter
tainments) in the history of St. Helens.
The committee is not prepared to make
a full announcement af plans until next
week, but deems it advisable to state
that tho tiee is not to 1 a public clear
ing house for piesents. Only gifts of
classes to teachers, teachers to pupils,
or the Sundav-si hoot to pupils wiii be
permitted. The tree is to be for the
children exclusively.
The Ladies' Aid Bazaar was an unquali

And then the eats--well, one prominent
i business man was heard to remark that
it was the first "square" he had had for
I a month. It was evident that the Aid
believes that ft pleased customer is its
best advertising. The ladies unite in
thanks to their Iriends for thr'r hearty
co-operation.

Buyers from this section have always been inclined
to go to Portland when the Holidays came around, for
the reason that up to the past 3rear or two they could '
not get much of a variety of goods from the local
stores, but that day is past. No matter what you want
we have it. Before going elsewhere at least look over
the fine assortment of
