rule and tbe financial budget.
Governor Banaon to Return South.
Salem, Ore. Oovcrnor and Secre
tary of State Henson will return to
California to remain until warmer

erally considered that Mr. Hanson's
prospective return to California sig
nifies that his condition of health

Salem. Ore. Theodore B. Wilcox,
president of the Oregon Development
League, electrified the opening Beg
at Salem, Monday, with the state
ment "Last June James 3. Hill, the
Empire builder of the Northwest,
gave me hi word that he would not
only Invade the territory of the Har
rlman system, known a the State ot
Oregon, but gave me permission to
quote him. Tbe exa'ct words used by
Mr. Hill were:
"'More mile of railroad will be
built in the State of Oregon during
the next five year than in any state
in the Union except Montana. I would
