apolis. In giving out the returns Mr. Dur

neapolis returns than 4,000 had been
eliminated, there was no evidence of
any concerted attempt on the part of
the enumerators, or of the supervisor,
to fraudulently pad the cen.-:us returns.

VACANT IDAHO LAND
Coeur d'Alene, Ida. Shivering in
miner's tents, some without shelter ;
and little tedding, ahout 1000 "soon
ra" squatted on land. in the Coour
tfAlena reservation, and awaited the
signal that opened the unallotted
tracts to general settlement at noon
Tuesday.
Following the recent land drawing,
all who drew lucky numbers and did
not file lost their chance. Numbers
were exhausted, and when all had
been given a chance, the people cf the
United States were given a chance to
file.
All squatters must make affidavit
when they file that they went to the
land not before the noon opening
hour. If they say they were there
before noon they will he considered
trespassers. After the opening sig
nal they will throw op their shanties,
stir up the earth and hurry to Coeur
d'Alene to claim the l.ind because of
priority cf settlement
