name was close and full of interest from
the start. In the hrst inning the visitors
got two men on ba.es, and it looked as
though they would sco-e. but when

The first score of the game was made by
St. Helens in the second inning and the

the viitors secured runs. St. Helens

Henry Waters was quite seriously
crippled by a recent accident at the St. '
Helens Quarry. It appears that lie caught
bin foot in a switch, and before be could
extricate it the car struck him, inflicting
quite serious injuries but nothing that
will permanently cripple him.

a ditch between Heaver Slough and the

At the council meeting on Monday
night last, the bond of W. A. Harris
as city treasurer was approved and he
took the oath of otliee. The liquor bonds
of Walter nlakesley and George Brinn in
the sum of $1,000 were approved. Nelson
Pinckney and Adam Mueller as sureties
for lllakesl. y and Wm and. J. N. Brinn
as sureties for George Brinn. The street
committee was ordered to employ men
and have the knoll removed at the

half the cost. Several bills were allowed
