were arrested at Scappoose Friday Inst
charged with selling liquor in violation
ol the local option law, on a complaint
worn to by h. 0. Kbipp before Deputy
Prosecuting Attorney Miller. The vio
lation of the law has been open and fla
grant ince the June election, and when
the officers arrived on the scene they
found the glasses on the table aud a
number of people were just leaving the
saloon. A Portland traveling man was
present, aud at the request of the sheriff
he tasted the liquor in the glasses and
pronounced it the real thing. Tom Cal
lahan was in charge of the place, but de
nied that he bad uiade any sales. How
ever, as a detective in the employ of the
Anti-Saloon Dengue has worked at the
cases and has about 40 witnesses who
will testify to having purchased and
drunk liquor there, the District Attorney
will-make a separate case ol each offense

The stock of liquors belonging to John
