Benjamin F. Taylor, a veteran of the
civil war, suffered a slight stroke of
paralyses about a week ago, and has
been taken to the Good Samaritan Hos
pital in Portland. When sufficiently
recovered he will be sent to the Soldiers
Home in Roeeburg. Mr. Tsylor served
in a Wisconsin regiment of heavy ar
tillery.

The steamship Strathyre sailed
Wednesday morning for Shanghai with
a cargo of lumber. The steamer hat
on board 3,660,000 feet, a portion of
which was loaded at Rainier. The
Strathyre has one of the largest deck
losds ever cleard from a Pacific Coaat
port. In it there are 1,080,000 feet of
lumber, more than 1-2 tbe entire canro
or tne ship Jordanhill, now loading at
tne tsstern and Western mills. The
Strathyre is a sitter ship to the Strsth-
lyde and is of exactly the same reiris-
tereo tonnage.
