force of men and teams, have been open
ing out the new road around the Spencer

Mrs. Chas. D. Ross, of Portland, form
erly Mr. Nellie Byuon, who has been
seriously ill for a couple of months past
was brought here last w eek for the bene
fit she miirht receivefrom our pure air aud
water. She wa accompanied ny ner
husland, her mother, Mn. M. R. Km-
mons, and her sister, Mrs. Frank Tracy,
who have been with her during her sick
ness. Mr. aud Mrs. Ross may stop in
the valley during the w inter months.

through the ordeal quite bravely. Hopes
are now entertained for Her recovery.
