Loganberry Yields llir.
A. M. LaKollett, Gervias, Oregon The
loganberry is a successful and profitable
crop in Marion County. I-'our years ago
I set out a lot, and the following year
picked two Cl-quart crates to the vine.
The next year I had a crop of 43 crates
from 2tl0 two-year-old vines, lu 1904 I
picked Olki crates from 1,250 viues.
From 7 acres of first-year crop my son
marketed Illiterate. We received ILO-i
per crate for the crop, f. o. b. llcrvais.
The picking cost 20 cents per crate;
crates and boxes, 13 cents, leaving a net
of 70 cent to the grower. 1'lants cost
f:)0 per thousand, and arc set 8 feet apart.
Wiring for the vines cost $25 per acre.
The post with the wires are set 32 feet
apart, and it takes ltld to 200 posts to the
acre costing from $10 to $20 per acre.
Counting IWO plants to the acre, the cost
of putting out loganberries is about $tW
an acre and there is apprently no limit to
the time a patch will last. Cultivation is
by plow and harrow.
