to southern Oregon this week to locate, a

Mr. C. O. Anderson took a trip to
Tortland Tuesday to see a doctor. Char
ley has been somewhat under the weather
the past few weeks.
The representative of the society for
the prevention of cruelty to animals
ought to have taken a spin down Nehalem
Avenue Monday. A team of horses was
driven through this city by a gentleman
from the Nehalem, and the driver should
have been arrested. One of the horses
hail the heaves or something else so bad
that it breathing could be heard fully
two hundred feet away.
It is said that the county court is con
sidering the matter of letting the contract
for opening and grading the new road
over the summit from Clatskanie to th
Nehalem. When the said road is opened
thQ people in this part of the county
should give a grand barbecue in honor of
the occasion.
The steamer Sarah Dixon is having a
hard time to get to herjilock at thts end
of the Hue on account of the river being
so low. It is said that the river is filling
up very fast with the dirt and debris
stirred up by the loggers in putting in
