R. W. Conycn, the pioneer merchant,
visited the metropolis last week and
while there laid in a large stock of goods

in large quantities every day from the
mill, out in the hills. A number of
shingle mills have also started up and
are pushing their products into this
market as fast as possible.

was honored last Monday night by a
visit from Grand Master Yoran. Ow
ing to the shortness of the notice, the
attendance was not large, but to say
that those who were present will re
member the event with pleasure for
many days to come is stating the

of wisdom attractively grouped, and
j held his hearers spellbound for possi
I bly an hour., After the lodge exer
cises adjournment was had to the
I room beneath the hall, where the
ladies of the Eastern Star had pre-
went to his room to call him up to break
fast and found him dead.
Considerable excitement in and about
town on the vote for the Queen of the
May Festival. The boys are beginning
to vote early and often for their best
girls. Who the lucky young lady will
be is a little uncertain, but the church is
getting considerable money as its share
of the fun.

new sidewalks, new crosswalks, new
fences, new houses, and soon . there

Mr. Frank K. Love!!, of the Secre
tary of State's office, was a visitor
injured by the fire as it was a first sup
posed to be.
Vail Grange is contemplating giving
a strawberry and ice cream social soon

At this writing Miss Annie Larsen is
very dangerously sick, Her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. K. F. Larsen, think it hardly
possible she can recover.

Enyart-Thompson. A pre:ty, quiet
wedding took place on Monday evening,
May 2nd, at the borne of Mr. ard Mrs.
Chas. Venible, when Miss Minnie Thomp
son of Toronto, Canada, was united in
marriage to Mr. Rcs Enyart of Kelso,
Wash., Rev. J. Whitcob Brougher offici
ated. The bride was very pretiily gown
ed, and carried brides roses. The parlor
was decorated in lilac, and carnations,
tlie color scheme being white and green.
After the cere-pony refreshments were
served. Mr. and Mrs. Enyart will be
at home to their many friends at Kelso,
Wash., after May 10.
