Poverty In Denmark.
Denmark makes a clear distinction
between the thriftless and the respecta

English paupers. The latter never
cross a workhouse threshold. I' desti

from three pounds to seventeen pounds
a year or, if too feeble to look after
themselves, they are pla:ei in an old'
age home.

Jean's Revenge.
An avenger need not necessarily be
a naturalist, but there are cases where
be would take his vengeance more to
the purpose if he knew the habits of
bis victim. Llppencott's Magazine
tells a story of Jean, the French-Canadian
gardener, who was found
stamping on a little mound of fresh
eartb and chuckling to himself.
Ah, m'sleu'," he cried, triumph
antly, "I am not a one to be trifled
with! I am a cr-r-r-uel man when
once I am arouse. M'sleu' will remem

Every morning madame she say, 'Jean,

"But the mole was wise; 'e was

never can I find beem. But at last
tbees very morning I catch beem.
I bold heem tight In my hand

then, that has vexed madame, and rav
aged ber teds of the strawberry?
Aba-a! You shall repent of tbees wick

beem. He must be punished as well
as killed. I wonder and wonder, but
at last I have the grand ld'-a. Ah.

Miss Gannon, Secy Detroit Amateur j
Art Association, tells young women what to
do to avoid pain and suffering caused by
female troubles.
" Dkak Mrs. Pinkham : I can conscientiously recommend I.ydla E.
Pinkliam's Vegetable Compound to those of my sisters suffering with
female weakness and the troubles which so often befall women. 1 Buf
fered for months with general weakness, and felt so weary that I had
hard work to keep up. 1 had shooting pains, and was utterly miserable.
In my distress I was advised to use Lydiu K. lMtikluun' Vegetable
Compound, and it was a red letter day to me when I took the first dose,
for at that time my restoration began. In six weeks 1 was a changed
woman, perfectly well in every respect I felt so elated and happy that
I want all women who suffer to get well as I did." Mis tin la Ga.n.nosi,
339 Jones St, Detroit, Mich, Secretary Amateur Art Association.
It Is clearly shown in this young lady's letter that Lydli E.
Plnkham's Vegetable Compound will c ertainly cure the sufferings
of women; and when one considers that Miss Gannon's letter Is
only one of the countless hundreds which we are continually
publishing in the newspapers of this country,
the great virtue of Mrs. I'inkham's medicine
must be admitted by all ; and for th abiwilute
cure of all kinds of female ills no substitute
can possibly take its place. Women should bear
this important fact in mind when they go into
a drug store, and be sure not to accept anything
that is claimed to be " just as good as l.vdia
K. IMnkham's Vegetable Coin pound, for
no other medicine fu female ills bu made so
many actual cures.

my trouble. I felt relieved after taking one bottle. I know of no med

find that it braces them up, improves tbe circulation of the blood, and
stimulates all the bodily organs, and
persons of delicate constitutions can
take S. S. 8. with safety, as it does not
