The August meeting of the Columbia
County Pomona Orange at Veruonia
was gratifying in every respect. There
waiagood attendance and interesting
session. After reiieated efforts, The
Mist was unable to get a program of the
exercises. Several resolutions were
passedone favoring a constitutional
convention in otder lo set the in a Iter of
the initiative and referendum in the
constitution of Oregon. Another reso
lution favored the enactment of a legis
lative law authorizing counties to ac
quire one acre of ground every 10 miles
along public highways for the use of the
public as camping places. It waa alto
voted lo bold the Octolier meeting of
the Pomona Grange at Clalakauie.
The Veruonia people added to their
reputation as entertainers, the old ho
tel building being tilted up witlt every
convenience for the free accommoda
tion of the visiting Grangers. The vis
itors were shown every attention, and
