Judge McBride convened circuit court
in regular session in Astoria yesterday.

ton Public Hall Association have been

ha. begun all neceaeary arrangements
for carrying out the behests of the court
in regard to the hanging. There seems
to be little likelihood that an appeal
will be taken ; however the time aet for
such a legal move will not expire until
today.
Some of the material for erecting the
scaffold and constructing the enclosure
has already been delivered, and carpen
ters are engaged to do the work. The
warrant issued to the Shelff commands
that officer to make disposition of the
prisioner according to tbe sentence, be
tween the hours of 10 o'clock in tbe fore
noon and 2 o'clock in the aftoroon of
Wednesday, July 2. If the proceedings
take place, as is likely tbey will on the
day appointed, it will be the first of tbe
kind in tbe history of- tbe county, and
great Interest ia being manifested by
the people. A great many are anxious
to witness the affair, and the Sheriff ia
inclined to be very generous with hia
invitations, which are ready for issu
ance, announcing the affair to take place
at 12 o'clock noon.
