A XI SIB AT QCINCY.
The republican rally held at the
Qtiincy echoolbouae last Friday even
tax wat one of tha lararett and most
enthusiastic gatherings of the season.
Mr. Austin, of Union county, wtt the
tneakor of the evening. He spoke for
mora than an hour in a very earnest, j
convincing manner ou tha issues of
the campaign snd bis logic carried
conviction to the minds of those who
were privileged to listen. Several of
the republican candldatea wore also
present, among whom wera Dr. Hall,
Dr. Rote, Martin White, Will Meterve,
H . Copaland, accompanied by Nor
man Merrill Each of these gentle
men wera also called upon to address
the neoplo, and each responded with
brief but well chosen remark. Kioe
music was furnished by Miss Nora
Conyors, Mist Jennie Meyert and Mr.
George Conyers, of Clalskanie, with
guitars and mandolin. Tha applause
which these youns people received
was evidence of their skill and the ap
preciation of the people. Indeed thie
political meeting was a tort of a "fus
ion" rally. Tho school bad -been in
training for soma lour weeks to gie
an entertainment of a petrtolio nature
and with tha proceeds to buy a flag,
and so it was thought that lo blend
both occasions woul be welt. Repub
licanism and patriotism go hand in
hand. This waa a timely intpiiatiun,
for tha "hat" was pissed around and
fS 25 realised sufficient to buy a fine
flag and now tba Quiucy school will
float from it dome what no school
should be without the American flag
for wherever it is seen patriotism I
atlmulated in tha minds ot tba chil
dren, and as the time ia not far dis
tant when tha ballot ot our boys, and
perhaga girls, will rule tha destiny of
our nation. Let ut do what we oaa to
