Farmera' Institute,
Borrones, O'r., Nov. 80. 1897. Dear sir:
Your co opt ration in a farmers' institute to
be held at Mcsppoose, Or., on Dec. 9 and 10
is earnestly requested. A word as to what
these institutions are may not be out of
place. Tht-v are held at various points
throughout "the slate under tbe auspices of
tbe State Agricultural college of Cnrvallis.
It is ordeied hy tbe board of regents that
six of these be held annually, and the num
ber frequently exceeds this. These meet
ings are in no way political: they do not
represent any faction whatever desirous of
putting ita principles before the publio.
They do profess to afford opportunities to
(armers on the one band, and professors o(
the college on the other: to exchange ideas
and experiences iu agricultural aftairs.
They have proved to be one of the best
means of enlightenment regarding practical
points of farm, gardi-n, and orchard. The
authorities, feeling that they are successful
only so (r as tbey are attended by farmers
anrf others, earnestly k your presence and
participation in discussions, with the as
surance that such act on your psrt will
prove of mutual advantage to yourself and
the community iu general. These meetings
are always perfectly (rce to all; no admit
tance fee being charged at tbe door.
There are always points under discussion
which interest ladies; and, therefore, to tbe
eutire public and to the tanners in particu
lar, a cordial invitation is extended.
Your truly,
Burt Wxst,
