the proposed plank walk from Houl-

distance of tbe proposed route will be
one mile and an eighth. Tha grade

one, there being no bills or canyons of
any consequence to cross. Another
public meeting will be held next Mon
day night at which time arrangements
will be completed for the commence
ment of work, and at no distant day
the people of tbe two towns will be
promenading on a aubttential plank
walk instead of in tbe mud at it tbe

looks very strange that there was not

One of our neighbors had a peculiur
(to himsell) experience, being aroused
from his slumbers cy the baying of
his dog. Ariai.ag, he plunged into the
darkness to ascertain Iho causa i the
disturbance, which proved to be a
something up a tree. Fesring it was
a cougar, he returned to the houae lo
await the coming of daylight. When
daylight approached he sailed forth lo
rind that ihe cougar waa a coon.
Mr. Dolman seems to be ever on tbe
alert, looking for tbe best bargains lo
be found for ready cash. Hit rule of

is well known. These are the timet

removed it would be better to change
it to a more central location in. the
county, both ways. Why not let well
enough alone, and save ths county so
