an address before the Beaver Falls re
publican club last Sunday, but on ac
count of the bud weather was unable
to be here. However a very intorett
ing meeting was held, and, ub a result,
wo now have twenty-eight members,

it staled, shortly after the last election,
that the republican party would never
put out another ticket, but the great
interest being manifested all over the
state in behalf of the party which
made this country, not what we see it
today but what it wan before the pres

court that said appraisers had met at
the lime and place at heretofore or
dered by said court, and proceeded to
examine und assesa how much less
valuable the premises would be,
through which said road runs, if
grained, and that said appraisers had
reported in writing that, in their opin
ion, tho premises Would be no less val
uahle by reason of the granting of
said roud, and that no damage be al
lowed. It is therefore now ordered
and adjudged that said report bo, and
the same it hereby accepted, and
that said road be opened and declared
a public highway, and that the rowl
supervisor of the road district in which
said road is laid out and located be or
dered lo open the same.
In the matter of the remittance of
tax of Max Berg. Now on this day
comes Max Berg and asks the court
that his tax on the sheriffs assessment
roll of 18'Jl bo remitted, and it appear
ing to the court that the said Max
Berg had been assessed on his land,
and also a mortgage on his land for
the sumo year. It is therefore now
ordered and adjudged by the court
that the sheriff be, and he is hereby
authorized to strike from said assess
ment roll of 18SH of Ihe sheriff's the

after being duly sworn, viewed, sur
veyed, m ulted, and located a county
road us follows: Commencing at a
point on the north lino of the Canaan

county road 720 feet due south of the

one-quarter of the northeast one-quarter

marked "T," which last said stake is

writing in favor of the establishment

gether with the surveyor s held notes

nel, and extending from bank to bank,

ern entrance of said slough, with the
middle channel of what it known as
tho Wallace Island slough, in section j

A. Cushmon and others for a county
road. On this day comes Ed. A. Cush
man and eighteen other householders
of Columbia county, Oregon, residing
in the vicinity of the proposed line of
road, and presents to the court their
petition for a county road as lollows:
Commencing at the southwest corner
of section 28, in township 6, north of
range 2, west; running thence north
on the section line between sections
28 uud 29, 20 and 21, to intersect the
county road known at the Nicholi
road, where said lino crosses said road.
That said road be located and estab
lished at a uniform width as required
by law, and a good and sufficient bond
having been hied, with i.d. A. uusn
uiao as principal, in the sum of 100,
and everything being and appearing
regular. It is now here ordered that
J. M. Archibald, James Kennedy, and
Jacob Lengacher be, and they are
hereby appointed viewers, and A. B.
Little surveyor, to yiew, survey, and
murk out said proposed county road,
und that they meet at the schoolhouse
iu school district No. 37. on the 20ih
day of March, ut 9 o'clock a. m. of
said day, and failing to meet on thai
duy, then within five days thereafter,
and that they qualify according to
law, and proceed to view, survey, and
mark out said line of proposed county
road, and report in writint' to this
court ou or before the first day of the

MARCH TWELFTH.

day this duy this matter coming on to
be heard.aiid it appearing to the court

MARCH THIRTEENTH.
In the matter of the extension of
time for tho collection of taxes for Co
lumbia county, Oregon, for the year
1893. Now on this day comes nmiier1
ous taxpayers of Columbia county,
Oregon, and asks the court that an ex
tension of time be allowed the tax
payers of said county to pay their re
spective taxes before becoming delin
ouent:and the court being fully ad
vised in the matter, it is ttiereiore
now ordered aud adjudged that the
time for the payment of taxes before
becoming delinquent be, and the same
is hereby extended until the 10th day
of May, 1894
In the matter of the transcript and
cost bill, state of Oregon vs. B.F.Down-
ing. Now on this day this matter
eominar on for a rehearing, and the
court being fully advised in the mat
ter. It is therefore now ordered and
adjudged by tho court that said cost
bill and transcript be,, and the same is
hereby accepted. And it is further
ordered by the court that the clerk of
this court draw a warrant on the treas
urer in payment of the several
amounts, and in favor of the persona
named in said cost bill.
In the matter of the remittance of
tax of l'hineas Peck for the year 1892.
Now on this day comes Phineas Peck
and asks the court that his tax iu the
sum of $3.30, for the year 1892, be re
mitted, he having paid the same to the
sheriff, but said amount was not cred
ited on the roll by said sheriff; and it
appearing to the oourt ou examina
tion of the matter that there was a
stub for Ihe receipt of said taxes. It
is therefore ordered thut said amount
of $3.30 be, and the same is hereby
remitted, and the sheriff to be credited
will) suid amount.
, In the matter of the remittance of
tax of Sarah D. Henderson for the
year 1889. Now on this day comes
Sarah E. Henderson and asks the
court that her tax for the year 1889
be remitted, she having paid the same
and ' having had a receipt for the
same, which said receipt hud been
destroyed ; and it appearing to the
court from an examination of the
matter that the facts existed as stated
in the affidavit of tho said Sarah E.
Henderson. It is therefore ordered
and adiudeed . that the taxes of the
said Sarah E. Henderson, for the year
1889, be remitted in the sum of $8.25,
and that the sheriff be given a corres
ponding cfedit therefor.
