y A comml'jiity never existed which
f possessed more atitviiis Qualities than
do ftie people of Astoria. They have
been harping railroad for the last
twenty year, and yet they are at it.
The prospect 'g-ts brighter" every
year, and if something doea not mater

ao bright that they will not need a
road. Late advices Irom there are to
the effect that lately there has been
hfi- nio.st bftsiness-iike proposition sub
mitted to them of any of the past.
This should be cheerful news for Ag
torians, as they have been the victims
of more railroad adventurers, "rain
bow chasers,' sad "wildcat" schemers
within the last eight years than all the
people in the slate. We have been,
and are yet, earnest advocate of a
railroad to Astoria, and we will hail
with great gratitude the completion of

Ik the correspondence from Deer

' is an item setting forth the benefit
to be derived frtyn, a, neighborhood
Creamery. These ar$ timely sugges

of the arming element of that or any
other locality in this county. It is our
belief that a creamery, properly man
aged, would be a paying industry and
one from which, our farmers could re
alize hands. iniely. As the corrosion
dent says, we have good Ltcalious. the
farms, the cows, and the climate, nnd
this, with a conceited action on ihe
part of the farmers, should be ccotiyli
to carry into execution any roppsi
tiou of that nature.
