after this, although a good lookout

vessel, but no one could be seen.

short time a man wa discovered ly

the boat was upset and he wa the
only one who escaped. The rest of
the party were helped on the boat by
Stalled, who is good wiinmer. At
different times be swam out to them
when necessary, hut they tailed to
keen their hold and were washed off
and drowned. The bout drifted grud
ually out towards the schooner, but as
the evening wa foggy, it could not be

the upturned boat. Securing i , lie
used it with one of his garments to at
tract the attention of those on the
schooner, but to no purpose. There
is no hope of finding the other bodies.
