Building Permits

Total Almost
$100,000
There are few people in St.
Helenc who realize the great
progress of the "Home Building
Idea" in this city.
It has been aptly arid truthful
ly said that the "home building"
in any' town is evidence of what
the town really amounts to and
the faith of the property owner in
the town. This being true, it
seems certain that St. Helens
amounts to something, and in the
near future will grow and amount
to more.
Before buying St. Helens pro
perty and building homes, the
careful buyer has investigated
the many advantages which the
city has. The big lumber mills
and shipyards which furnish em
ployment to hundreds of men;
the canning factory which takes
the produce of the farmer; the
fine farming section adjoining St.
Helens and which is being rapidly
developed, all tend toward mak
ing St. Helens a big city. The
churches, schools, public libraries
and other advantages, make of St.
Helens a most desirable residen
tial section.
Some of the residences which
have been built recently, art
shown on this page oi the Mist.
It will be noted that they are all
.substantially built and are of
modern construction. All ot
these cottages were built by
either the St (Helens Lumbei
Company or the St. Helens Ship
building Company and sold to
the man who wished to be his
landlord, at a price much lower
than ordinarily such a residence
would cost.
There are hundreds of well
situated lots in St. Helens which
may be obtained at most reason
able, prices and it is hoped that
the "Own Your Own Home" idea
will be taken seriously by the
many who live in St. Helens and
dish out their dollars for a month
ly rental, so that they may con
clude to build a home and become
independent of the landlord.
The future of St. Helens is as
sured. An investment now, will,
in the course of a few years, show
big results, and then, those who
build houses for themselves have
the satisfaction of building ana
arranging their own home just a
they want it, and in addition to
this satisfied feeling, know that
they have become identified with
the growth and prosperity of St.
Helens. '

throo artlrlea showing the recent growth
of St. Helens.
