As temporary quarters are provided for the present, we should build a good school on the present site, large enough to ac commodate the grades and the high school until such time as a county high school could be erected, ut which time the population will have increased to such proportions that this entire building will be requlrcu tor the grades alone. In this way temporary quarters for the high school would tide us over the period of the high cost of building, and give us time to organize a union high school district, which should be located In the neighborhood o." Washington Square. The ban has been lifted from the road-building program and the St. Helens-Pltts-liurg road, now being pushed to completion, with the paving of the Columbia River highway, wUI; con nect most of the Important " school districts in this end of the county, and make this city the logical loca tion for a well equipped high school. By combining forces, the burden will not be heavy on r.ny one dis trict, while under the present plan each district is struggling along tn,i support a nign school with little o. no equipment. The use of the present site will sr.ve several thousand dollars, as the present heating plant, foundations and excavation can be utilized; be sides the only natural playground in St. Helens belongB to this particular school, and the sewer connection, which Is a big expense In this town is already made, while with every other available site offered or sug gested, septic tanks would have to be used. The present location is situated on the main road into St. Helens from every section in the eounty and a good modern school building would be a great drawing card lot this Taken Up Two-year-old heifer at F.
