clearing land or getting rer.dy for

BENEFIT CONCERT
HIGH SCHOOL NOTES
Arrangements have been made by
; Prof. Emll Enna to give a benefit
concert at the city hall Tuesday eve
1 ning, February 27, at 8 o'clock. The
; admission charge has been fixed at
'. 25 cents, and the proceeds will be
i divided equally among the four St.
1 Helens churches. Professor Enna
has a large class of pulis in St. Hel
ens and wishes to show his npprecla
i tion of the patronage given by doing
something for tho town as a whole,
1 therefore he decided on giving the
concert with the express understand-
ing that all of the proceeds should go
; to the churches. So when you meet
! tho ticket sellers greet them with a
I smile and 25 cents for the piece of
I cardboard which will admti you to
I the concert.
There was good weather last week j
ind a large number of the high ,
school boys turned out and practiced !
baseball. From the prcsont outlook j
St. Helens High should have a good j
team, as only one man is absent from 1
laBt year's team. The team has been
strengthened very much by the addi
tion of a new pitcher, Jacob Richard
son. 1
The program rendered Inst Thurs- j
day afternoon by the high school In 1
honor of Washington's birthday was
very entertaining nnd pleasing. It
was as follows: Selection, High
School Orchestra; vocal solo, Mr.
McCoy; comic dialogue. Stanwood
ind Decker; violin solo, Harley Tur
ner; Instrumental solo, Helen White;
address. Rev. Hlsey.
The Boys' Literary Society will
hold Its regulnr meeting tonight and
very interesting program will be
given.
The high school students had
their regular monthly exams this
week, but none of them proved fatal.
There seems to be a number of now
names originating in the high school,
imong which are Potnsslum (K);
Mercury (H, G.l, and Phosphate
(Rod). Potassium seems to be get
Mng quite friendly with Phosphate.
Watch for the next edition of tho
9. H. H. S. News.
The Seating rearrangement will
take place today, and the students
will try to become accustomed to
their new seats.
