We could not learn particulars, except the funeral cortege came from St. Helens. We are very glad to learn that the calumnious stories which are being reported hereabouts concerning a very sweet and lovely young girl are not true and are wholly unfounded. Such stories are too easily started and very hard to silence, and are not helpful to anyone in any way. The young lady is in a most excellent homo and is very pleasantly located and taking advantage of music und ether forms of improvement. We hope none will bo guilty of repeat ing these stories further, and all will in every way try to learn tho facts in the case and then help to cause to rise the truth which has been so caielessly crushed to earth, and veri fy the maxim so beautifully stated: "Truth crushed to eartli shall rise again." The musical comedy given by the young people some time ego was re peated Friday night of Christmas week with great success, both In res ponso and in financial returns. The Watts and Price families cele- lirated New Year's day in the hall with great festivities. There were several families present as guests.
