BRADFORS TAKE GAME
(Continued from page 1)
in the big league, being with the
Chicago Cubs, later being transferred
to Los Angeles where he was one of
Dillon's mainstays. Mooro still lias a
lot of good baseball in his system.
We do not know how to account
for Luckey's score in the sixth un
less it was that Luckey scored on
Lund's assist.
Steve atoned (or his last game by
playing a bang-up game. He made
several difficult stops and used his
head at all times. First is the proper
place for Steve.
The beautiful day should have
drawn a larger crowd. Until the
sixth what was lacking numerically
was made up by the enthusiasm of
the 200 present. Ballagh wants
the enthusiasm of the fans, but says
it will not line the coffers of his big
safe with silver lining.
Kennedy could not get his weather
eye on Lund's shoots and retired by
the strike-out route in the second
inning. McCreedia's former first base
man went hitless.v'
Moreland pitched a good game,
striking out 10 men, three in ths
first inning. During his occupancy
of the mound, Lund struck out six
while Donaldson struck out three for
his share.
Even if the game went against us,
it was worth seeing. St. Helens fans
have an opportunity to see some real
good ball playing now and should
support their team. We will not al
ways have so small an average as
at the present. The boys are hitting
and fielding better and when they go
to Salem Sunday we can expect a
fast and interesting game and a dif
ferent score.
Pop Ballagh batted BOO per cent,
lleter stop right now Ed, while the
percentage is goou.
i'ete Brakke says one derives more
comfort from the fact that ho has
been a ball player than the fellow
who is a ball player but can't play.
